About Us
What is TechnoPlus Service?
TechnoPlus Service (TPS) is the first Social Enterprise which offers full-service maintenance and construction services in Africa. TPS is also the first to bring American technology and standards of commercial janitorial, painting, computer maintenance, and construction services in Mauritania. Based in Nouakchott, it was founded in 2006.
Why Social Enterprise?
TPS was formed as a social enterprise to fulfill the founder’s dream of seeing a unified Africa. While he realized that he probably won’t see this in his lifetime, he is passionate about making a difference. His aim is to achieve change by unifying Africa one community, one city, one country at a time. By opening branches of TechnoPlus Service all over Africa, with one centralized headquarter, he could not only provide job opportunities, but also create a unified extended social network.
Social Enterprises are profit making businesses set up to tackle a social or environmental need. Rather than maximizing shareholder value, their main aim is to generate profit to further their social and environmental goals.
A Social Enterprise is a business model which offers the prospect of a greater equity of economic power and a more sustainable society – by combining market efficiency with social and environmental justice.
They’re Not Not-for-Profit
Because the purpose of Social Enterprises is to make a profit and then to use it to tackle a social or environmental need, the term not-for-profit isn’t correct for them. Social Enterprises are for ‘more-than-profit’ (a term coined by a BBC journalist).
Social Enterprises are businesses. They need to make a profit to compete in the market, to ensure their continued survival and be able to invest in their social or environmental aims. For many social enterprises, being sustainable – in every sense of the word – enables them to become more independent.
They Contribute to Public Service
Social Enterprises can make a significant contribution as agents of public service delivery, regeneration and economic development. They are able to harness the power of local communities – catalyzing regeneration and promoting active citizenship.
By combining a public service ethos with a commercial focus on efficiency and good business practice, Social Enterprises are able to deliver on the things that really matter, while remaining both independent and sustainable.
These are the ideologies and values that the TechnoPlus Service business model is based on. These ideals, combined with the owner’s passion to unify and support the people of Africa are what have motivated him to succeed.
Mr. Sao’s sees Africa as one country, not just a continent. His hope is that one day more of Africa’s leaders and citizens will share the same vision and realize the powerful future of a united Africa.
